Beautiful Things the way you want them

Costume jewelry is one of the many things that I like. Not only buying it, I enjoy making unique pieces. Customers will ask for certain colors, certain styles or even bring you a picture of something that they saw when they were on vacation. The most difficult was a sketch of a design and I could not make heads or tail of the sketch. But I was able to come up with something that made my customer very happy. 

The image below is the finished product. I made earrings with clusters of Swarovski crystals, each was wire wrapped individually to form a cluster. Three shades of yellow.

What do you like crafting the most? is it beading, sewing, wire work, bead weaving? the list can be pretty long. Over all I enjoy doing a little of all. My most recent project, was a double strand Biwa Pearl necklace which included swarovski crystals, and knotted.

Brain Fog

I am sure there are many out there that have gone thru this. What did you do to help you regain focus? or what did you do to deal with this?

The last few months has been extremely exhausting. I just can't think clearly and just can't get into the groove of creating. I have much to work on, tons to organize and lots to finish. Well the month is not over. I have faith in myself I will get it going again. This is not how I wanted to start the year, but hey things do happen. I just have to figure out where to start.

Summer is gone! I hope you had a wonderful summer. It has been fun these last few weeks. Dreading the clean up of the back yard, getting the flowers ready for winter and when to take time out for my projects. Well that day finally came. The back yard clean up is almost complete, just one more day and it is done.

My sewing UPDATE

 

About three weeks ago, my sewing machine decided to not function properly. Well it decided to do its own thing, I decided to stop sewing until I can wrap my head around the idea of taking it apart and giving it a good cleaning. Usually I do this once a month, depending on how often I am sewing. I have been sewing quite a bit, but failed to clean it. Big mistake that was. I took the machine apart and good lord, it had more fuzz in it than I expected. I won't make that mistake again. Below is an image of the purse that I have been working. I just can't decide on the strap. Should it be an adjustable strap or just a short strap?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Happy Birthday October

Happy Birthday to all of those born in the month of October!

Today I am writing about the birthstone color for the Month of October. I will not go into too much detail because there is way too much to discuss. I will keep this very simple for those of us who enjoy beading, we look at the month and design jewelry either as gifts or to sell and the question always comes up. Sometimes my customers will  ask the same; what color or stone should I use for a particular month. Well I decided to post a short list for October.

Opal is the traditional birthstone for October

Pink Tourmaline is the modern birthstone for October

Rose is the Color that is mostly used when making beaded jewelry

October Flower is Marigold

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Color is Pink

Below is a beaded bracelet which is a combination for a birthday and Cancer awareness. I used Swarovski Rose, Clear Crystals, Rondells, Sterling Silver and the Ribbon is Pewter and a heart toggle.
