End of Summner

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Summer is gone! I hope you had a wonderful summer. It has been fun these last few weeks. Dreading the clean up of the back yard, getting the flowers ready for winter and when to take time out for my projects. Well that day finally came. The back yard clean up is almost complete, just one more day and it is done.

I have fallen behind, which was not my intention. Too all of my November Birthdays, "Happy Birthday"

Topaz is the traditional birthstone for November

 November flower is Chrysanthemum/Peony

Awareness colors for November are as follows:

Happy Birthday October

Happy Birthday to all of those born in the month of October!

Today I am writing about the birthstone color for the Month of October. I will not go into too much detail because there is way too much to discuss. I will keep this very simple for those of us who enjoy beading, we look at the month and design jewelry either as gifts or to sell and the question always comes up. Sometimes my customers will  ask the same; what color or stone should I use for a particular month. Well I decided to post a short list for October.

Opal is the traditional birthstone for October

Pink Tourmaline is the modern birthstone for October

Rose is the Color that is mostly used when making beaded jewelry

October Flower is Marigold

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month – Color is Pink

Below is a beaded bracelet which is a combination for a birthday and Cancer awareness. I used Swarovski Rose, Clear Crystals, Rondells, Sterling Silver and the Ribbon is Pewter and a heart toggle.

My Esty Shop - EclecticStudioByLucy

After noodling for quite some time, I decided to stop dragging my feet and open up my shop. I usually spend more time in gathering and thinking what can I post, and the words that go with it. Most of the time if I spend too much time working on the details, I will not have anything done. I am sure there are many people out there that know if you spend too much time trying to perfect everything, you will not accomplish a thing. That was my dilemma. Well here is the link https://www.etsy.com/shop/EclecticStudioByLucy

All items can be customized, whether it is the color, size or even the items that have fabric. Please share any comments if you have any. Thank you for stopping by.

The Retail Blues

The above image and the one to the left is our bead store in Morton Grove. We left the Chicago store on Gunnison and Nagle to Morton Grove. The beading birthday parties were so much fun. The happy faces on those little kids.

The image on the left and below is our store on Belmont, back to Chicago :)

Due to the lousy economy, and my health going from bad to worst, we decided to close up shop. The worst part of all is missing all of our beading friends, especially our Tuesday Beading Nights. I will always remember and be thankful for meeting Jean, Bob, Dawn, Michelle, Janet, Carol and Peggy. They truly made Tuesday nights fun and special.

The beginning of our Journey

My very first store! This is where the journey started. In this picture, you will see my Mom, little sister and me. This shop sure brings lots of fun memories. I met some of the best customers and made a few friends. I miss the most the beading nights, children parties, the workshops but above all my friends who became part of my family.

Having a shop is not easy. Everyone really thinks that it is a piece of cake or a walk in the park. You are working day and night. Thinking of the next promotion, or preparing for the next party. Your mind is never at ease. I was not alone, my husband worked with me and together we made it work.

We taught many customers new to beading how to make lovely necklaces and or bracelets, not to mention the many earrings that we made and sold.

The hardest part of leaving this location was saying goodbye.  But we didn't stop here!
